New gadgets focus on entry-level mobiles, cameras and USB sticks

Ratingen, Germany - Nokia's selection of affordable mobile phones has grown with the introduction of the 2720.
The flip-top phone with a reflective surface needs only a simple double finger tap on the phone's body to pull up the external display of incoming calls or messages. It retails for 55 euros (77 dollars).
Meanwhile, the Nokia 2730 is a classic standard-body mobile phone that costs 80 euros and comes with UMTS capacity, according to Nokia.
The 6600i is three times as expensive, coming in at 240 euros. The compact slider phone includes a five-megapixel camera and comes with a brushed steel cover, something it inherited from its sister model, the 6600. (dpa)

ATC2K: Oregon Scientific Action Video Camera

The ATC2K from Oregon Scientific is a great, low cost, mountable video camera for the daredevil out there. The waterproof video camera has 32MB of internal memory with an SD card slot supporting up to 2GB. The ATC2K works with a wide variety of video editing software, so I wouldn’t sweat over that detail. It virtually mounts to anything you can think of with its included hardware and works down to a depth of 10 feet and shoots video in 640×480 VGA at 30fps. Also included alongside the mounting hardware are RCA and USB cables. The ATC2K is powered by two AA batteries and weighs in at a paltry 120g. It will be available August 10 in Japan, but we can already get one now for $170. Huzzah, Japan!

ATC3K action cam beautifully retrofitted into ski goggles

Before my last ski trip I wanted a helmet-cam. I bought an Oregon Scientific ATC3K digital video camera, but the mount was just too bulky for a helmet rig. It’s great for mounting on a kayak or mountain bike, but totally unsuitable for a real helmet mount. (It’s just too big.) Obviously, it was time for a bit of modding.

Locate the camera on the lens and drill a hole through the lens of your goggles. Blow out the dust with a can of compressed air if you end up with debris inside the double lens. Position the camera and use hot glue to permanently mount it to the inside of the goggles.

Digital Hero Waterproof Wrist Camera From Go Pro

While I enjoy underwater photography, even if it’s just in the backyard pool I’m usually stuck with buying a disposable film camera since I don’t like dunking my Nikon DSLR and waterproof housings for the said camera are far from cheap. GoPro has come out with Digital Hero which is a waterproof wrist camera. It comes in handy whenever you want to shoot photos and video during hiking, biking, skiing or surfing and even underwater. It's a 30 feet waterproof and shockproof wrist camera that boasts a 32MB of Nand flash RAM that will be able to store up to 360 of photos or 32 10 seconds action videos. It takes pictures at VGA with resolutions of 640 x 480 and videos resolutions of 320 x 240. The glass F2.8 lens and high quality sensor deliver big color and zero blur. The wrist-mounted camera is powered by a single AAA battery. Transferring data from your camera to your computer won't cause you much trouble, just plug in the USB and you are done. It locks down during activity and pivots up for photos. The Digital hero will be available at GoProCamera with the retail price of USD80.
